Which four legged, furry tail animal and was the mascot for Warner Brothers at a point of time?

Answer is, Bugs Bunny!

Welcome to Furs-day Friday where we'll discuss any furry fur-balled fur-ster pet animal there is!
When you think of cute little furry pets, how many of you think RABBITS?

With over 35,000 rabbits left abandoned in a year and about 70% of house rabbits are kept locked up within its cage (as adapted from BBC UK) we decided to give a mini shout-out to our little jumping friend.

  1. Who said Doe was a deer? IN FACT - a doe is called a female rabbit! No wonder they say Rabbits are only the third popular animal, even Mary Poppins ignored a rabbit and went straight to a deer instead.

2.Rabbits seldom get stuck in tunnels because of their wide whiskers that is the actual length of their bodies! The whiskers would feel its circumference and surroundings.

3. Rabbits are Martians! Okay, more of moon-tions. Japanese culture actually believe that there are rabbits on the moon!

4.Heard a purr? Thought it was a cat? Might be a rabbit instead! Similar to cats, rabbits purr when displaying what they are feeling. The softer and calmer the purr, the more happy your rabbit is! Good job buddy!

5.Rabbits are curious animals! Try lying down one day in front of your rabbit and act dead. They’ll might just start climbing onto you. Of course, don't startle them by giving it a jump scare (they’ll probably hate you for life) but try giving mini strokes along the head to show your affection (and that you are not really dead). This might help especially if your rabbit doesn’t acknowledge you often.

6. A rabbit can drink up till 5 times more than a pound dog. Thats right, don’t be surprised when you decide to take on a pet rabbit for a change. They'll drink just as much as your pet dog!

7. Never jump scare a rabbit! The term ‘scared to death’ is pretty applicable for our furry friend over here. They can actually be die when their predators jump scare them.

8.The metre long rabbit. That’s right you read it correctly, the world’s largest rabbit is actually over 129.54 cm long at a whopping 22kg weight. The largest rabbit breeds are the Flemish giant, Checkered giant, Giant Chinchilla and the French Lop. However, on average, the size of a bunny rabbit is similar to a cat - don’t worry about your cat growing the length of your arms.

9.They don’t have night vision goggles, they hunt under low light - early morning and evenings. This is because they’d want to be hidden from their predators.

10. Last but not least, everyone who is a fan of rabbits and or their fluffy little butt needs to go to Japan’s Rabbit Island. Situated by the inland sea of Japan, Okunoshima is known as a haven for 100s of friendly bunnies. Watch the video below to find out more!

The Story of Hachiko, The Most Loyal Dog

Hello There!

Today is Random Thursday! This is the day where I write most of the random stuff about animals including stories and more. Today I shall tell you a story about a dog named Hachiko. Yes, many of you may know about this legendary tale about Hachiko. The dog is of an Akita breed and the story which I am going to tell you is of a sad one. Get ready your tissues for as you may cry after reading my post...

[This is what the Akita breed looks like]

Well back to Hachiko, this dog is known as the most loyal dog ever. Hachiko was a dog owned by a Japanese professor named Hidesaburō Ueno who works in the agricultural department in the University of Tokyo. Everyday Hachiko goes to the train station with his master and awaits his return in the evening. He never fails to wait for his master, or rather good friend patiently at the station.

Unfortunately, one day, Professor Hidesaburō Ueno did not return as he died at his workplace and did not return to the same station where Hachiko was waiting for him as usual. Soon afterwards, Hachiko returns to the same train station daily for 9 years to wait for his master. Even after being given away to another family, Hachiko would escape and go to Shibuya Station to wait for his master. People bring treats for Hachiko daily as they know that the loyal dog was waiting for his non-returning master. Hachiko died in 1935 due to an infection on his heart. Hachiko's body was stuffed and displayed at the National Science Museum of Japan and a statue of Hachiko was then built as a symbol of his loyalty to his master over many years.

I feel that even though Hachiko is no longer around, his loyalty towards his master can still be felt by many including myself. Hachiko will always be remembered by the world for years to come. This is also another lesson learned by us humans that not only humans are loyal, animals are included too. That's all by me!

When Dogs Are Sleeping...

I have two dogs at home, Kobe and Lassie.

For many centuries, dogs are the guardians of mankind. They protect people who raise or feed them.

Same thing goes to my dogs, or dog.

Kobe is a mix between a stray dog and a Labrador. So basically, he is a smarter stray dog, which makes him a good door keeper. But at the same time, he is a stupid Labrador. So, some erratic performances are expected from him, such as barking in the midnight for no reason, running around the lawn until he is exhausted, barking at bugs on the ground...But whenever someone new visited our house, he would make sure they knew who was in charged of the security.

Lassie, on the other hand, is bad at protecting her home. She is a Golden Retriever, kind towards all sorts of animal creatures (especially those who offers her food). Her one and only defense mechanism is barking (while lying down). Protecting the house? More like us protecting her.

But as their family, we should not jump to conclusion so easily. Is it possible that Kobe will be seduced by strangers' treat? Or is it possible that Lassie will attack intruders by herself?

Me and my brother decided to test them out.

While they were sleeping just now, we sneaked out and try to get closed to them.

Kobe immediately woke up.

Atta boy.

Lassie's turn.

Erm.

If you have only one pet dog, you should check him out when he or she is sleeping. They might need some serious training if they can not wake up when someone is invading your land.

Seven Reasons To Have A Hamster

What's up guys! How's the week treating you up till now? If your answer for that question is yes, well... good for you! If it's no, then good luck cause there's still have 5 more days till the end of the week.

Today, I'm going to tell you seven reasons as to why you should have a hamster.

So, let's go!

1. Money Matters
Well, we have to admit that it is expensive to raise a pet. Other than buying the pet, you still have to pay for its food, grooming and everything else. It's like taking care of a tiny furry baby, ain't that cute? But having a hamster as a pet can help you save a lot of money, as compared to keeping a dog or a cat.

2. Easy To Take Care
One thing for sure is that you don't have to fret over taking care of your furry little friend. All you need is a cage, food, a water tank and some toys for your pet's entertainment. Since they are so tiny, food and water would last them for quite a while before it's finished. A standard water tank could last them for 3 whole days, so less work for us, owners!

3. Easy Cleaning
Don't worry about having to spend much on your hamster's grooming. Like our feline friends, hamsters also clean themselves by licking their paws and running them over their faces. But if you insist on bathing your hamster, try a sand bath. Chinchilla sand is available in most pet stores. Just put your hamster onto the sand and watch your little baby get clean by rolling in the sand. How cute is that?

4. Independent Pets
Hamsters are able to entertain themselves when they're alone. So, no more worries about your pets feeling lonely while you're outside. But a useful point to note is that hamsters tend to become more friendly when you spend more time with them.

5. "Animal Planet" Live
If you happen to have 2 hamsters of opposite genders, well, chances are you'll get a few more little pups (baby hamsters) on the way!

6. Pocket Pets
Hamsters are really easy to take care of because of their size. I mean, you can literally place your hamster into your front pocket of your shirt and sneak it into the cinema to spend some owner-pet bonding time. The best part? No one will ever find out! Just don't get too engrossed in the movie and let your little friend go around exploring the cinema. But all jokes aside, hamsters make good pets for lazy people like me because it's just so convenient to take care of them!

7. Small Furry Critters
The best part about having a hamster? Well, making "aww" and "so cute" your catchphrases, of course!

1. Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Own A Cat

Hello everyone!

It's Meowday (Monday) which means I'm going to write about cats! Today I'll be talking about the reasons why cats make awesome pets. Speaking from experience, owning a cat made a really huge impact on my life and I couldn't be any happier. I can't even picture not having pet cats anymore.

Let's begin, shall we?

Here are my top ten reasons why everyone should own a cat:

1. You know how when you have had a bad day at school or work and you don't really want to talk about it but at the same time, you want to be comforted? YOUR CAT IS THAT COMFORT YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO.

2. Love watching funny cat videos on Youtube or Tumblr? Look no further as you can watch them live right in front of you. Your pet cat can do those silly things and make you laugh at any time, on any day.

3. Dislike being home alone? Cats make great company albeit they don't talk and mostly sleep, you could always lay right beside them and watch them sleep. It's not as lonely as it sounds, trust me.

4. Do you have trouble waking up in the morning? Do you snooze your alarm clocks way too often? Cats are great at jumping onto the bed and meowing you a good morning. What a pleasant alarm clock and you won't ever wake up late again.

5.  Hate insects like roaches and lizards? Your cat will be the best personal pest exterminator EVER.

6. Pet cats give you good reason to procrastinate. Got a report due next week? Oh, that algebra exercise just won't complete itself. Ah.. but my cat is laying down ever so cutely on the bed. Maybe I should lay down with him for a little while too. -wakes up a few hours later- BAM, PROCRASTINATION.

7. Meowing an entire conversation - totally acceptable. Plus, you get to put your meowing skills to the test and maintain a good open relationship with your pet cat.

8. Your cats will love you unconditionally. Bad hair, pimply face, saliva drooling from your mouth - your cat will accept you and love you unconditionally. Til' death do ya'll apart.

9. A cat's purr is such a therapeutic sound to listen to and it lets you know that you are loved. Also, watching them sleep is probably the cutest thing ever - I could do it all day.

10. Cats have this awesome attitude that not everyone can be loved by them - you have to be the chosen one, which makes you feel all the more special.

In 2011, there were 2,789 cats being abandoned by their owners. Don't be one of those who buy, adopt or own pets on impulse. However, if you really think you're truly ready to own a pet, please adopt from organisations such as Cat Welfare Society or SPCA as the animals there could use a second chance. :-)
