1. Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Own A Cat

Hello everyone!

It's Meowday (Monday) which means I'm going to write about cats! Today I'll be talking about the reasons why cats make awesome pets. Speaking from experience, owning a cat made a really huge impact on my life and I couldn't be any happier. I can't even picture not having pet cats anymore.

Let's begin, shall we?

Here are my top ten reasons why everyone should own a cat:

1. You know how when you have had a bad day at school or work and you don't really want to talk about it but at the same time, you want to be comforted? YOUR CAT IS THAT COMFORT YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO.

2. Love watching funny cat videos on Youtube or Tumblr? Look no further as you can watch them live right in front of you. Your pet cat can do those silly things and make you laugh at any time, on any day.

3. Dislike being home alone? Cats make great company albeit they don't talk and mostly sleep, you could always lay right beside them and watch them sleep. It's not as lonely as it sounds, trust me.

4. Do you have trouble waking up in the morning? Do you snooze your alarm clocks way too often? Cats are great at jumping onto the bed and meowing you a good morning. What a pleasant alarm clock and you won't ever wake up late again.

5.  Hate insects like roaches and lizards? Your cat will be the best personal pest exterminator EVER.

6. Pet cats give you good reason to procrastinate. Got a report due next week? Oh, that algebra exercise just won't complete itself. Ah.. but my cat is laying down ever so cutely on the bed. Maybe I should lay down with him for a little while too. -wakes up a few hours later- BAM, PROCRASTINATION.

7. Meowing an entire conversation - totally acceptable. Plus, you get to put your meowing skills to the test and maintain a good open relationship with your pet cat.

8. Your cats will love you unconditionally. Bad hair, pimply face, saliva drooling from your mouth - your cat will accept you and love you unconditionally. Til' death do ya'll apart.

9. A cat's purr is such a therapeutic sound to listen to and it lets you know that you are loved. Also, watching them sleep is probably the cutest thing ever - I could do it all day.

10. Cats have this awesome attitude that not everyone can be loved by them - you have to be the chosen one, which makes you feel all the more special.

In 2011, there were 2,789 cats being abandoned by their owners. Don't be one of those who buy, adopt or own pets on impulse. However, if you really think you're truly ready to own a pet, please adopt from organisations such as Cat Welfare Society or SPCA as the animals there could use a second chance. :-)
